About UNIEP
The International Association of Painting Contractors (UNIEP) represents around 50,000 businesses through its member associations in fourteen countries. UNIEP has been the voice for painting contractors and allied trades since 1953 and has proved to be the authoritative trade association representing professional painters.
By representing associations with sole traders through to businesses with €200 million turnover or more, UNIEP understands the needs of small and medium enterprises, as well as the larger companies.
UNIEP is developing a fresh, modern strategy that keeps members informed and up to date with policy changes by the European Commission and Parliament and UNIEP is continuing to increase its influence with international bodies on the global stage.
With UNIEP's commitment to raising skill levels and qualifications in the trade through vocational training, a new generation of painting entrepreneurs are entering the profession. In 2011, UNIEP in association with AkzoNobel held the first Legacy event in Amsterdam, which combined teaching new skills and using new technologies with social networking and providing a ‘make over’ for a local school.
The effects of paint and associated materials impact on our environment and UNIEP encourages businesses to reduce waste and pollution and use eco-friendly materials. In this day and age, every business needs to appreciate and take action to reduce its carbon footprint and UNIEP has been careful to measure and find ways to reduce the level of carbon production in running events and activities. UNIEP continues to play a constructive role in the on-going review by the European Commission of VOC levels in paint that seeks to reduce health problems and improve air quality.
We welcome new members as we continue to grow and develop so that decision makers in the industry face a strong and united trade determined to make its voice heard.
The construction industry in recent times has faced some of the largest reductions in economic activity in history and the painting trade has endured cost pressures that have resulted in hundreds of thousands of lost jobs around the globe. UNIEP is the only International trade association dedicated to representing and fighting for those professionals who create amazing colourful designs that make a house a home and transforms a cold factory into a welcoming work environment.
